Finding Your Voice is a new charity project which aims to involve the city’s working children in musical activities such learning to play instruments and participating in an orchestra.
The project is being run by the Rotary Club of Sucre in conjunction with musicians from Bolivia and abroad. It aims to provide a one to three year training program for approximately 900 children between the ages of 5 to 18 who are living in financially and socially disadvantaged circumstances. The project is being launched in Sucre, with plans to develop as a self-sustaining project that will be replicated in other locations with similar social conditions, potentially aided by graduates of the music program in Sucre.
Finding Your Voice will teach instruments to as many as 320 children, through bi-weekly instrumental lessons. 600 more children will be given recorder and choir classes.
Finding Your Voice is a brand new project (they just set up the Find Your Voice Facebook page yesterday). We wish them all the best and look forward to following their progress.
