Sucre’s Casa Municipal de Cultura, or Municipal Culture House, is responsible for promoting cultural events, activities and developments within the city.
The Casa de Cultura is located 1/2 a block from Plaza 25 de Mayo, at Calle Argentina #65, in a building originally owned by the Club de la Union. The building is on two levels, centered around a spacious courtyard. To the side is a newly constructed group of multi-purpose rooms. The building’s facade is of simple wood and stone on the lower level, with ornate and eclectic white detailing on the upper level.
The Casa Municipal de Cultura works with local artistic and cultural organisations to promote events, many of which are held in the casa itself. Free concerts and shows by local groups are held on Fridays from 7pm.
The casa also offers a range of courses such as painting and drawing classes, as well as reading and study rooms.
A tourist information office is located on the first floor of the Casa de Cultura.
